How GPA works
A GPA is a weighted average of your grades. Each grade is worth a number of grade points, weighted by the course credits. The formula is simple:
GPA = total grade points earned ÷ total credits

Grading scales by country
Grading systems vary. The calculator currently supports the most common scales around the world:
- United States — 4.0 scale
- United States — weighted 5.0 scale for advanced courses
- Canada — 4.3 scale
- India — 10-point scale
- Australia — 7-point scale
- Nigeria — 5-point scale
